Is there any Botox alternative? Everyone has heard about Botox. It’s effective, but it’s also expensive and Botox injection can be painful!
Dr. Susan Taylor Dermatologist, Clinical Researcher, and Expert on Treating Skin of Color writes about a new Botox alternative:
New Botox Alternative Provides More Options for Frown Lines
I spent yesterday morning with several beauty editors (among them Megan O’Neill from Lucky, the legendary Joan Kron from Allure, and Genevieve Monsma from More) at the Crosby Street Hotel along with Dermatologist, Heidi Waldorf, and Plastic Surgeon, Paul Lorenc, discussing a new product recently approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement of the appearance of moderate to severe glabellar lines (frown lines between the eyebrows), Xeomin. So, in addition to Botox Cosmetic and Dysport, we now have Xeomin in our armamentarium for those dreaded frown lines.
There were two clinical trials in the US that studied 547 healthy adult patients. What they found was that there was a significant improvement in the appearance of glabellar lines 30 days following the first injection when compared to placebo. I shared with the editor three recent cosmetic patients that I treated. The first was a 20-something women whose wedding was a few weeks away (I also treated her mother). The second patient was a 30-something pop star preparing for an international tour. The third patient was a 50-something man who was an executive. What all three patients had in common was that they wanted to look their best so that they could feel their best and perform their best. In fact, a survey revealed that most women who seek cosmetic procedures like fillers and toxins, want to look refreshed and rested. They don’t necessarily want to look 10 years younger or like a movie star. The bottom line is that there are many easy ways for us to look our best.
I hope that this botox alternative is really effective and cheap enough to provide results a broader number of people.
